Raspberry juice instead of aspirin?
Grandmother’s ways to treat colds are coming back to grace. And good, because thanks to folk medicine, we are better acquainted with available herbs, vegetables and fruits that accelerate the healing process. Such plants include, among others, raspberries.
Raspberries are unfortunately only available in the summer and early autumn, but it is worth processing fruit for juice and enjoy their benefits throughout the year. Why? Raspberries contain valuable ingredients that support the recovery process in case of a cold.
The precious power of raspberries
Why can raspberries help with a cold? Let’s look at the vitamins and minerals that they contain
– Vitamin C and antioxidants – thanks to them, raspberries support the immune system. In addition, antioxidants protect the body from toxins and free radicals, which slows down the aging process. 100 grams of fresh raspberries fill the daily requirement for vitamin C at around 35%
– B group vitamins, including B1, B2, B3 and B5. These vitamins are needed to produce antibodies that support the immune system
– Vitamin E, which is a very good antioxidant. It protects the body against free radicals, for which the body is particularly vulnerable during illness
– zinc – by eating raspberries, you protect the body against recurrent infections
However, the most important component of raspberries is salicylic acid. A derivative of this acid, acetylsalicylic acid is used in the production of aspirin. Salicylates have antipyretic and analgesic effects, and additionally they warm up the body, thanks to which they support its fight against the disease. The use of raspberry juice during the disease can be as effective as eating aspirin. It is worth adding it to tea – such a drink not only has a warming effect, but also a napotnie. Of course, uneven juice juice (let’s not confuse juices with nectars and drinks!); in stores it’s easy to make a mistake, especially when we do not know how to choose a good juice.
What raspberry juice to buy?
First of all, pay attention to whether the juice is pressed from whole fruits. Buy, good raspberry juice should be stored in the fridge after being opened and consumed within a few days. It’s easy to distinguish it from sugared syrups advertised, for example, as raspberry juices. First of all, it is less sweet and durable; syrups can successfully open for up to one month, while raspberry juice after a week will be suitable for disposal. How to make raspberry juice at home?

The way of preparation
Put the raspberries into the scalded jar and cover them with sugar (layers). Cover the jar with a sterile swab (this will stop fruit flies before entering the jar) and stay for 2 days. If the raspberries are still sipping, wait a day longer. Then, raspberries and juice should be strained separately; If there is a residual sugar in the jars, add them to the liquid part. Attention! Raspberry juice should not drink pregnant women. The salicylic acid contained in them dilates the blood vessels, which in some people can cause cramps and even lead to miscarriage. Some believe that such action is exerted only by the leaves of raspberries, and not by the fruit itself – in any case it is better to avoid him pregnant.
