What do fat burners contain?

There is no doubt that the most important role in weight loss plays a proper diet. However, in the fight against overweight a physical activity and supplementation are also very important, which are a supplement to a diet. Among slimming supplements there are fat burners, or preparations containing substances accelerating the reduction of body fat. Such supplements may contain different ingredients.

Dietary supplements wit a conjugated linoleic acid

On the list of most-used components is a conjugated linoleic acid or CLA. It is an isomer of the linoleic acid with two compressed double bonds. Researchers from the University of Wisconsin in Madison were the first who isolated CLA. A naturally conjugated linoleic acid presents in milk and milk products, in particular those high fat, and in meat of animals belonging to the group ruminants.

CLA supports the transport of lipid molecules to mitochondriions, in which there are processes leading to the reduction of free fatty acids and their content in lipd cells. The conjugated linoleic acid increases the amount of fat being converted to energy, while reducing fat storage in the body.

The beneficial effect of CLA is not limited to assist in the reduction of the fat tissue. The conjugated linoleic acid has a positive effect on immunity, as well as the circulatory and nervous system. It thins the blood, and inhibits the breakdown of the muscle tissue. This last feature makes CLA a good proposition for those looking to reduce body fat, but without damage to muscles.

L-carnitine

Another group of supplements supproting slimming are those containing L-carnitine. The first who have isolated were Gulewitsch and Krimberg in year 1995, but as a dietary supplement it began to be used much later, because its unique characteristics were not immediately noted.

L-carnitine promotes the elimination of excess free fatty acids, which among other things promotes eating too much carbohydrates. It acts as a transporter, moving them to the point of fat burning. At the same time, it stimulates the release of fatty acids from fat cells.

L-carnitine is a naturally occurring substance in the human body in an amount of about 20-25 g. Its creation is possible thanks to the precursors such as vitamin B3, B6, C, iron, lysine, methionine, and cofactors. If a level of one of them is too low, then the ability to produce L-Carnitine decreases. L-carnitine is present in red meat, poultry, fish and milk, as well as in small quantities in plant products.

As in the case of CLA, the functioning of thos substance is not limited to the effect on the tempo of weight loss. L-carnitine stimulates the reconstruction of the skeleton, has antioxidant properties, improves post-workout regeneration, and improves endurance during training. Therefore, supplements containing L-carnitine are a very good option especially for those who train hard.

Supplements with caffeine

A common ingredient in fat burners is also caffeine. This is an alkaloid naturally occurring in coffee beans, fruits, guarana and cocoa beans. Caffeine accelerates metabolism, because it activates lipolysis, wherein the fatty acids are released into the bloodstream. At the same time caffeine stimulates the cerebral cortex, and stimulates the production of dopamine, resulting in a reduction of mental and physical fatigue, and a greater feeling of pleasure.

Supplements with caffeine can be recommended, among others, for people leading busy and active lifestyle. Such formulations may increase the pressure, particularly when taken in high doses, or in combination with drinking coffee. For this reason, dietary supplements with caffeine is not recommended for people who have problems with hypertension.

Fat burners with green tea

Another popular ingredient in fat burners is yohimbine. The extract from the bark of the West African tree contains a chemical compound which, like caffeine increases the amount of fat released from fat cells. If yohimbine is taken before a workout, the increase could be more than doubled. Supplements containing this substance can not be accepted by everyone. On the of contraindications can be found, inter alia, diseases of the liver kidney, and anxiety disorders.

The list of components in fat burners is much longer. Particular substances differ in the way they influence on body fat, as well as the whole organism. It is important to choose a supplement best suited to your needs and health.
