The juice war – which juice is worth drinking and which is better to avoid?
Juice – a colorful, appetizing and sweet drink that serves health? Nutritionists agree that it is not so easy! Some juices are valuable for health, and some only slightly better than sweetened beverages. Can you make a good choice?
The best choice of vegetable juice
Lycopene from tomatoes lowers the risk of prostate cancer. Beet juice lowers blood pressure. Pure vegetable juice is a large portion of healthy fiber that helps control your appetite. Vegetable juice contains much less sugar than fruit juice and therefore fewer calories.
The worst selection of fruit drink
It is a liquid containing a small amount of real juice. Its main ingredients are water and sugar in various forms. A fruit drink is not very nutritious (it contains little valuable ingredients – such as vitamins), which is very similar to ordinary sweet drinks. Consuming it in large quantities promotes weight gain.
And what about hundred percent juices without added sugar?
Nobody denies that such juice contains a lot of vitamins and antioxidants. The problem is the fact that this juice usually contains a lot of natural sugar and is high in calories. A glass of apple juice may contain a similar number of calories to a bar. Therefore, many dieters recommend that you limit yourself to one glass of such juice daily.
Which juice to choose?
- Pomegranate juice
It contains the largest amount of antioxidants that can prevent cancer and improve brain function. It was also found that regular drinking reduces the risk of prostate cancer.
- Cranberry juice
A real vitamin C bomb that supports the immune system. In addition, it prevents urinary tract infections.
- Blueberry juice
Turbocharging for the brain! The antioxidants contained in them improve memory and cognitive abilities.
- Acai berry juice
These berries come from South America and only recently have been interested in scientists, but it is already known that they have an exceptionally high amount of antioxidants, much more than berries, cranberries or strawberries.
- Cherry juice
It contains a significant portion of antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps fight post-workout muscle pain – it should be drunk before and after training.
- Plum juice
Protects against constipation. Why? Because it contains a lot of fiber and natural laxatives (sorbitol). It also contains antioxidants, iron and potassium.
What about so popular orange juice?
it is less caloric than grape or berry juices, but contains fewer antioxidants. It is rich in vitamin C. Fortified juice (enriched) with calcium and vitamin D strengthens the bones.
The best way out?
Eating fresh fruit! You eat in this way all the valuable ingredients contained in fruit juices plus a large dose of fiber, which significantly neutralizes the negative effects of fructose on the body and helps control appetite.
If you can not resist glass caloric juice, you can dilute it with water.Posted on: October 18, 2018
