Eat popcorn without remorse
Popcorn contains more antioxidants than fruits and vegetables claim the scientists who met at the 243 National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society, which took place on March 25, 2012 in San Diego, USA.
It’s about antioxidants called polyphenols, which are more concentrated in popcorn. Popcorn only consists of 4% water, while polyphenols in fruit and vegetables are diluted with water, which is up to 90% in them.
The most polyphenols in popcorn are found in popcorn-disliked scales, and according to scientists, they deserve the name of dietary “treasures”.
These tests make popcorn an ideal snack. It is a 100% snack from unprocessed, whole grains. Other snacks described on the packaging as whole grains usually have not less than 51% of whole grain, but many with it up to 100% unfortunately very far. For this reason, a portion of popcorn covers as much as 70% of the daily human demand for whole grains. Meanwhile, most of us do not even eat half the daily recommended full-grain dose. Popcorn can easily help us meet these requirements.
However, you must know that popcorn can easily be turned into a diet nightmare. How?
Popcorn prepared with the use of warm air is the least calorific. Popcorn prepared in the microwave has two times more calories than the one prepared with the help of hot air. Popcorn prepared in the microwave contains up to 43% fat, and prepared itself in hot oil and filtered it has 28%. The more fatty, caloric and more salted, the less popcorn is healthy.
Popcorn, of course, does not replace fruits and vegetables, which contain a lot of important vitamins and other valuable chemicals that are missing in popcornie. Still, it is worth reaching for it especially when avoiding wholemeal bread, brown rice and whole-meal pasta.Posted on: November 6, 2018
